Market Sector Directors (MSD) drive our business within HDR's matrix management structure. The H&R sector is the largest, with nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients owning highways, toll roads, city and local roads, and bridges. HDR provides services like bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.
This role requires understanding of clients, funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures at all levels. Responsibilities are divided into:
The Director sets strategic vision, supports growth initiatives, develops staff, and maintains communication with leadership to implement growth and operational plans. They also support client management and business development, working with regional teams and industry organizations.
The role involves engaging with US and international clients, expanding HDR's market presence, and leading strategic partnerships and industry representation.
Lead market understanding, client relationships, pursuit strategies, and oversee marketing efforts. Serve as client manager for key accounts, participate in projects, and support pursuit activities. Represent HDR in industry associations and develop strategic partnerships.
Lead staffing, technical excellence, recruitment, and performance management. Support staff growth and coordinate technical resources across projects.
Assist in project delivery, monitor performance indicators, ensure quality, and facilitate resource sharing. Review contracts and promote QA/QC practices.
Preferred: 20+ years in highway/bridge engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations.
Required: Bachelor's in Engineering, 12+ years industry and leadership experience, strong communication, client management, business skills, and active participation in our culture.
