Salary: $26.00 - $28.00 per Hour

As a Counselor at Behavioral Health Group (BHG), you will assist patients in identifying and leveraging their strengths to achieve social, educational, and occupational goals. You will help patients prepare for and adjust to a drug-free life, providing emotional and physical support for various challenges. Reporting to the Counselor Supervisor or Program Director, you will ensure adherence to schedules, program policies, and all regulatory requirements, performing duties within the scope of your license or certification.

Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Conduct regular alcohol and drug abuse counseling sessions and group sessions as required.
  2. Orient patients to treatment program operations and procedures.
  3. Collect and assess social, educational, economic, and vocational information.
  4. Develop and revise patient treatment plans, maintaining comprehensive records.
  5. Make appropriate referrals and perform necessary follow-ups.
  6. Assist in implementing new programs and advise on caseload management.
  7. Provide in-service training to staff and hold a basic understanding of addiction.
  8. Conduct intake/readmission services and provide supportive follow-up counseling.
  9. Provide crisis intervention and inter-agency documentation.
  10. Coordinate care with community providers as needed.
  11. Participate in and provide in-service training required by federal, state, local, and accrediting agencies.
  12. Attend conferences, meetings, and training programs.
  13. Schedule and attend regular in-service training.
  14. Perform OBOT services and report any work-related issues immediately.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the supervisory team.
  16. Comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory agency requirements.
  17. Adhere to accrediting agency standards.
  18. Participate in community and public relations activities as assigned.
  19. Demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Individuals with human service related (Masters or Bachelors) degrees and current counseling credentials, as per your state requirements, are encouraged to apply.
  2. Experience in behavioral health is preferred but not required.
  3. The ideal candidate will possess decision-making abilities, good judgment, and the ability to handle confidential issues appropriately.
  4. Ability to respond quickly and effectively in stressful situations.
  5. Knowledge of human behavior, treatment planning, and social services related to substance abuse rehabilitation.
  6. Compliance with federal and state certification, licensure, and degree requirements.
