POSITION OVERVIEW

The People Business Partner is responsible for aligning business objectives with Members and management. This position formulates partnerships across the People function to deliver value-added service to management and Members that reflects the business objectives of the Company. The People Business Partner will facilitate and manage Member relations matters on behalf of the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  1. Consult with all levels of management, providing guidance when appropriate
  2. Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the organizational group to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  3. Serve as the contact and liaison for intake and assessment of Member complaints
  4. Manage and resolve complex Member relations issues; conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations
  5. Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of Members, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance; Partner with the legal department as needed/required
  6. Maintain knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources
  7. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to all levels of management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  8. Work closely with management and Members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  9. Provide policy guidance and interpretation
  10. Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers
  11. Provide guidance and input on Company restructurings, workforce planning, and succession planning
  12. Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success; Follow up to ensure training objectives are met
  13. Champion, with the organization, a commitment to honesty, integrity, and responsible behavior
  14. Advise and train managers and supervisors on best Member relations practices and strategies for managing problems and Member complaints
  15. Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's Degree in business, human resources, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Four (4) years of professional human resources administration experience, including two years in Member or labor relations preferred OR equivalent through training, education, and other experience
  3. Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment and labor laws
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  5. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  7. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  8. Demonstrated ability in maintaining consistent, high-quality service levels
  9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  10. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  11. Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the Company's organizational structure, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  12. Must be able to handle a heavy business volume, and sensitive situations relating to Member problems, in a timely manner
  13. Thorough understanding of dispute resolution
  14. Ability to provide leadership and direction contributing to the success of the organization through engaging, developing, and mentoring individuals and teams
  15. Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
  16. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Ability to simultaneously manage several projects
  17. Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
  18. Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions throughout the Company.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the Member is regularly required to stand and use hands and fingers to handle or utilize objects, tools, or controls. The Member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.

The Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
