Job Summary/Basic Function:

The director provides overall direction for Boise State Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), including strategic vision and leadership of PACE staff and trainers.

The Division of Extended Studies aims to extend higher education beyond traditional boundaries through innovative programs that increase access and success. Level Scope:

Spends over 50% of time achieving organizational goals through subordinate staff, managing professionals with autonomy, and overseeing resources to meet departmental objectives while ensuring policy and process compliance.

Essential Functions:

1. Oversee development and implementation of professional development programs.
2. Establish program goals.
3. Monitor program delivery and serve as the primary contact for curriculum and evaluation.
4. Set revenue targets and monitor budgets.
5. Develop client relationships and promote PACE programs.
6. Make hiring decisions, conduct evaluations, and approve work schedules.
7. Lead partnership efforts with colleges and identify subject matter experts.
8. Recruit and vet instructors, including faculty and external experts.
9. Teach noncredit professional courses (~20% workload) to stay current with adult learning principles and industry trends.
10. Perform other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Experience managing large programs and multiple priorities.
• Strategic leadership and decision-making skills.
• Staff management, coaching, and mentoring experience.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and teaching adults.
• Stakeholder engagement skills, including with university leaders.
• Customer service and professionalism.
• Data analysis and forecasting skills.
• Budget development and management experience.
• Knowledge of marketing, instructional design, sales, and client relations.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with relationship management software like Aceware is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 7 years relevant experience, including 3 managerial years.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree, 8+ years relevant experience, including 5 managerial years; 2 years in a PCE setting.
