Bridge Engineer

Job Summary:
The Bridge Engineer works with a team of engineers, CAD technicians, and Interns to work on a wide variety of state, city, and privately funded projects throughout the northwest in a range of markets. They design and create specifications and construction drawings for all types of single-span and multi-span bridges. Other projects may include load rating existing and new bridges, bridge inspection, and various other bridge related projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Design of steel and concrete, bridges
  • Develop plans and specifications
  • Prepare Preliminary Engineering Reports, Concept, or Type Size Location Reports, Engineers Estimates
  • Provide support for project bidding and construction administration
  • Actively participate in business development, lead generation, and contribute to proposals, presentations, and other marketing documents
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of common bridge engineering software such as, but not limited to, PGSuper, AASTHOWare Bridge Rating, LEAP Concrete, Larsa 4D, SAP2000, Lpile and other bridge design software
  • Working knowledge of Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of superstructure and substructure design for PE, exposure to design of elements a plus for EI
  • Working knowledge of AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications. Exposure to state DOT bridge design manuals.
  • Exposure to bidding and construction administration
  • Construction observation
  • Strong communication and personal skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Successful project delivery
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Bridge EI - zero or more years of professional experience
  • Bridge Engineer - Five or more years of relevant professional experience
    • Current Professional Engineer licensure in Idaho or ability to obtain licensure within two years of hire
