Evening Porter Custodian

Description:

The evening custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in assigned areas throughout the evening. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for employees, students, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while responding to various facility needs as they arise.
Responsibilities

  • Clean and restock restrooms throughout the evening (includes wiping down surfaces, and refilling soap dispensers, paper towels, and toilet paper, as needed).
  • Regularly clean and maintain common areas, such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, and break rooms.
  • Spot clean windows, glass doors, and other surfaces as needed.
  • Collect and dispose of trash from bins in common areas, offices, and restrooms.

Monitoring and Maintenance:
  • Conduct frequent checks of high-traffic areas to ensure cleanliness is maintained.
  • Report any maintenance issues (e.g., plumbing, electrical) to the Sr. Director of Facilities Operations promptly.

Customer Service:
  • Respond to requests for cleaning services in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Address spills, accidents, or other immediate cleaning needs as they occur.
  • Provide assistance to building occupants with general inquiries or needs.

Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow all safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Maintain a secure and safe environment by following security and safety procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None


Hourly Range:
  • $19-23/hr

Requirements
  • Previous experience in a janitorial, housekeeping, or porter role is a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs, bend, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment.
