Job Details

Responsibilities:.

  • Develop and implement planned maintenance programs that ensure all production and packaging equipment is producing within QA standards.
  • Work with production packaging machine manufacturers and material vendors in support of a continuous improvement program for plant manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage department labor and equipment budget.
  • Active involvement in the management of department's capital projects.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure that the Maintenance Department maintains the necessary machinery needed to meet the production schedule.
  • Monitor and enforce Bigelow Safety and Health policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing the training of maintenance work teams on all plant equipment for all service and production requirements.
  • Establish and monitor machine standards to meet shop floor control goals.
  • Establish and maintain budget and schedules for the rebuild/progressive maintenance of production and plant equipment.
  • Active member and contributor of the Plant Management Team.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all project related meetings including communications and recording of minutes and project schedules

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct reports are the Maintenance Supervisor, Parts Room Coordinator and electronics personnel.
  • Manages the daily operations and directs supervisors in the Maintenance Department, and indirectly all department personnel.
  • Responsible for the management, recruitment, coaching, disciplining, rewarding and evaluation of all department personnel.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Industrial Management or related field; Three to five years experience in Equipment Maintenance in a manufacturing environment with two years Supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Necessary knowledge, skills, and experience:

· Excellent leadership skills, experience with change management, improving team dynamics, and performance management.

· Financial skills for effective budget management.

· Experience managing or supervising a department such as Production, Maintenance, Distribution, or Quality Assurance.

· Knowledge and experience of production lines and equipment with minimum 5 years related industry work experience on how to optimize line performance to gain optimal results.

· Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate staff.

· Successful improvements in line performance using established procedures, policies, and processes.

· Successful Management in a multi-line plant with 50+ employees

· Proven ability to build cross functional relations with other departments.

· Step change through Continuous Improvement process (Six Sigma, Lean, TPM)

Job Requirements:

· Strong organizational skills and time management.

· Minimum 5 years of progressive management leadership experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, tea/coffee experience preferred.

· Strong computer skills – MS Office is essential. EAM, AS 400, Ultipro and other statistical software are assets.

· Experience in management of both Manufacturing.

· Proven track record of coaching and team building.

· Ability to create strong and effective cross-functional relationships.

· Ability to demonstrate knowledge and commitment to Health and Safety.

· Bachelor's degree preferred.

· Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
