POSITION SUMMARY
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs custodial cleaning, and maintenance of buildings, facilities, and grounds and performs other support services to in-house departments and security; performs other duties as required or assigned.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform custodial cleaning, maintenance of buildings, facilities, and grounds and perform other support services to in-house departments and security. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, other City employees, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in city buildings and the immediate grounds surrounding the building.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
•Maintains buildings and grounds by cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, and vacuuming; includes scrubbing, spot cleaning carpets and disinfecting, emptying, cleaning, and lining waste receptacles, and disposing of trash.
•Sets up and takes down chairs and tables.
•Mixes chemicals for desired strength and proper and safe use.
•Removes snow from sidewalks, parking areas, and roofs.
•Maintains buildings and equipment by checking and arranging for repairs, replacing lights, and performing basic plumbing functions.
•Secures buildings by locking doors, turning off lights, closing windows, carrying 2-way radio, and reporting suspicious or unauthorized individuals.
•Assumes responsibility for other duties as required or assigned and attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new
developments in assigned work areas.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Some knowledge of proper cleaning methods and safe use of cleaning materials, disinfectants, custodial tools, and equipment including hand and power tools and other equipment used in custodial work.
Some knowledge of basic safety practices and equipment related to work.

Ability to safely use hand tools.
Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions and perform shop mathematics.
Ability to prepare accurate and reliable record keeping.

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
