Summary Statement
This position is open to youth age 16 to 19 years of age who are currently enrolled in a formal high school education program, or its equivalent.
Hours per Week
8-19 hours per week. The schedule will include working weekdays after school and occasional weekends.
Essential Functions
Assist staff and program supervisor with Youth Recreation Program activities. Supervision of youth 8-12 years of age during an after-school program; prepare educational and recreational supplies prior to activities; assist with the maintenance and cleaning of a neighborhood community center; other duties as assigned.
Requirements
This individual must be a minimum of 16 years of age and currently enrolled in a formal high school education program or its equivalent.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening, and possess (or be able to obtain) a CPR/First Aid certification.
This position requires the ability to interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.
Employee must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
Superior Candidates
The superior candidate will have 1 year experience working with elementary-age youth.
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
